We’re pleased to introduce the Field Issue. For this issue, we wanted to look at somewhere central to all farming and food: the field.
Fields are a fixture of every landscape, the places where crops are planted and grapes are picked, where livestock lives and grains are grown. This issue shows all the variety of different fields, from vineyards in Sicily to the farm of Tom Jones, the celebrated farmer who has been championing and rearing native breed animals for more than two decades. There’s also a look at regenerative English whisky and a photo essay by Luke Fullalove, showcasing the inner workings of a British dairy.
The field isn’t necessarily all straight walls and closely cropped grass, and we also wanted to use this opportunity to showcase a wilder side of food production. Earlier this year, we spent a day foraging on England’s Jurassic Coast, learning about the food that grows alongside our footpaths across the country.
After two years, the Field feels like a natural progression as well as a homecoming.
The magazine is available to order here for £7.50 which includes domestic postage.
Thank you for reading!
